The rooms were empty, but the love was palpable – Roxanne + Andrew’s intimate Gibson Centre wedding.

ROXANNE + ANDREW, FEBRUARY 2021

The intimate Gibson Centre wedding of Roxanne + Andrew on February 27, was an event with all the feels that I won’t soon forget. This particular wedding was one of those dear, poor events that had suffered hard due to the unforeseen consequences of cancellations and lockdowns resulting from the ongoing pandemic.

When we started the planning process together back in 2019, we could never have imagined the twists and turns that would follow – none of us in the industry knew how this journey would unfold. And yet, and yet, despite the discouraging news reports and case counts and change after change, this bride and groom were determined to make their love official in marriage. So instead of shying away from revised plans, alternate venues and adapted guest lists; we time and again, stood on our surf boards and road this crazy, rip roaring event planning process hand-in-hand like those really narly surfer dudes. We cruised that beast of a wave right to the very end. And the end, well darlin’, I tell ya, it was beautiful. It was pure love.

The entire Gibson Centre – the historic, rustic, bright, and romantic venue – each and every room was completely empty aside from the bride, groom, coordinator, photographers, officiant and six guests. 12 people total. It was quiet. It was calm. Yet the love exchanged between all, filled each and every square foot of this space. I have never felt so much fullness in a venue so bare.

On February 27, I experienced firsthand that love really does conquer all. And so, for those of you, waiting to be wed, holding out for the perfect time, DON’T! Get the process started today and let your love be the foundation and the reason for saying “I do” regardless of what is happening in the world around you.

With love,

Paula
